Bulgarian households will be able to benefit from financing for the construction of photovoltaic systems

The Ministry of Energy announced for public consultation a procedure by which Bulgarian households can benefit from financing for the construction of photovoltaic systems. Eligible applicants are all natural persons, Bulgarian citizens, citizens of another Member State of the European Union or citizens of a third country with permanent residence status in the Republic of Bulgaria, occupying their own single-family dwelling or their own dwelling in a multi-family building. The dwelling applied for must be the applicant's main dwelling and replace an inefficient source of heat (stove, boiler, fireplace, etc.) using solid fuel (wood, coal, etc.).

The aim of the procedure is to promote the use of renewable energy in household final consumption by accessing funding to buy the best equipment for solar installations for domestic hot water and photovoltaic systems.

The total grant funding under this procedure is 59 840 000 BGN - 49 870 000 BGN from the European Union - NextGenerationEU, and 9 970 000 BGN national funding.

The procedure consists of two components - Component 1 for the purchase of solar installations for domestic hot water supply and Component 2 for the purchase of photovoltaic systems up to 10 kWp, including electricity storage systems.

The maximum amount of grant funding for a project proposal under Component 1 is up to 100% of the cost of the installation, but not more than BGN 1 960.83, and up to 70% of the cost of the system, but not more than BGN 15 000 under Component 2.
