Households start applying for funding for photovoltaic systems

After the final approval by the European Commission, the Ministry of Energy has started the recruitment of projects for the procedure for the construction of photovoltaic systems by Bulgarian households. The implementation of the procedure "National Household Renewable Energy Support Scheme" within the framework of the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan aims to increase the use of renewable energy in household final consumption. It provides grant funding for the supply and installation of solar installations for domestic hot water and photovoltaic systems of up to 10 kWp, which may also include systems for storing the electricity produced.

For a project to receive funding, it must relate to a dwelling where the applicant's permanent address is. It must use an inefficient source of heat (stove, boiler, fireplace, etc.) fired by solid fuel (wood, coal, etc.).

The total investment is BGN 240 million - BGN 140 million on account of the Recovery and Sustainability Facility and BGN 100 million national and private co-financing. BGN 80 million will be allocated in the first stage of implementation. The supply and installation of solar installations for domestic hot water supply can be fully financed under this procedure, but with no more than BGN 1960.83. Photovoltaic systems with a capacity of up to 10 kWp are financed up to 70% but not more than BGN 15 thousand. Applicants can submit their documents until 10 November 2023, after which projects will be ranked.

The procedure provides for fully electronic submission of proposals through the Recovery and Sustainability Mechanism's information system, ISUN 2020, via the E-application module at the following web address:
